Obituary of Sr. Mary Helene Burdett R.S.M.

Sister Mary Helene, 91, died on Monday, September 22, 2003 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, NJ. Sister Helene entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1930; she received a BA degree in English from Georgian Court College, and a MA degree in English and Library Science from the Catholic University in Washington, DC. Sister Helene was an outstanding educator in elementary and secondary schools for more than fifty years. She also served as librarian in the Cathedral High School in Trenton and Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung. In 1991, she retired to McAuley Hall Health Care Center where she continued her ministry of prayer until her death. She is survived by one sister, Sister Barbara Burdett, RSM of Toms River, NJ and several cousins. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Chapel located in the McAuley Hall Health Care Center, 1633 Highway 22 West, Watchung. Interment to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, Mount Saint Mary, 1645 Highway 22 West, Watchung, NJ 07069-6587. Arrangements are by the Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung.
