Arthur Gilde, age 84, died on Wednesday, October 1st, at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Mr. Gilde was born in Jersey City and lived in North Plainfield for 52 years before moving to South Plainfield a year and a half ago.
Prior to his retirement in 1977, Mr. Gilde worked as a truck driver for Easton Express for 30 years. After retirement, he was employed by the Scotch Plains school system for 3 years and then worked part time at Fleet Bank in Bridgewater for 10 years.
Mr. Gilde was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Plainfield and the North Plainfield Senior Citizens Club. He belonged to the retired Teamsters Local 701.
He is survived by his wife, Majorie Mulrooney Gilde of North Plainfield and one son Gary Gilde and his wife Andrea of North East, MD. and a grandson Luke Gilde.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 4th, at 10:00 a.m. for Funerals, at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grove and Mercer Ave., North Plainfield. Interment will be at Rosemont Cemetery in Rosemont, NJ. Visitation Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset St., North Plainfield.
