Obituary of Jessie E. Fuchs
Jessie E. (Bartlam) Fuchs, age 81, died on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at her daughters home in Toms River.
Born in Bristol, PA to the late Ernest and Elizabeth Yendall Bartlam, Mrs. Fuchs lived most of her life in North Plainfield before residing in Toms River 3 years ago.
Former member of the First Park Baptist Church in Plainfield, Mrs. Fuchs was also the secretary of the churchs White Cross Group, which she received an award. She was a volunteer for the Warren Brook Senior Citizens Center in Warren from 1992 - 2000, which she received recognition for being an outstanding member. Mrs. Fuchs enrolled in the Adult Education course at night, and was in the first class to graduate in this program in 1982. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, but most of all she loved spending time with her 6 grandchildren and her 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Fuchs is predeceased by her husband, Carl Francis Fuchs and her five sisters, Edna Bartlam, Virginia Marshall, Gladys Friedman, Marguerite Harrington and Constance Shanahan.
She is survived by her son, Robert C. Fuchs and his wife, Jude of Virginia Beach, VA; her daughter, Melody Lorenzen and her husband, Hans, of Toms River; her brother Gordon Bartlam and his wife Freida of Franklin Lakes, NJ; and her sister Millicent Fuchs of Piscataway, NJ. Six grandchildren, Susan Floge, Sherri Poikans, Kelly Peluso, Karl Zabriskie, Mesceline Fuchs and Carl Fuchs; and eight great-grandchildren, Bruce Evans, Austin and Kira Floge, Karrie and Elizabeth Kolesar, Jack Zabriskie, Christian and Joshua Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday November 24, 2003 at 12:00 pm in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset Street, North Plainfield. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 to 12. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
