Obituary of Thomas D. McLeod Jr
On Tuesday, Jan 14 , Thomas David Mcleod, Jr., age 55 passed away at home with his best friends, wife Linda and son Thomas, at his side. He was a man of faith and fight.
Tom was a graduate of Asbury Park High School and Newark State College. He was founder and director of the Alma McLeod Foundation, Plainfield, an organization created in memory of his mother to help those less fortunate. He was also a gym teacher at Holy Trinity Church in Westfield, NJ.
Tom was the son of the late Thomas D. and Alma McLeod. Besides Linda and Thomas, Tom is also survived by brothers Tyrone, Bruce, Barry, Rodney , Mark and a sister, Tammy, and their families. He was predeceased by a brother, Gregory. Tom also leaves his loving mother-in- law, Naomi Alligood and his sister and brother in law, Karen and Ray Finocchio. Tom is survived by a number of nieces and nephews who looked up to him.
There are a host of friends, coworkers, students, and people who may have known Tom well, or met him just once, who mourn his loss. In death, as in life, his mission is to help others. Tom asked that there be no flowers; instead, he requested donations to a scholarship fund set up for deserving students who will be attending college. Donations may be sent to The Thomas D. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17th, at 10 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Friday from 7-9 pm. Send condolences to www.higginsfuneralhome.com
