Obituary of Russell N. Decker

Russell N. Decker, age 86, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Cranford, Mr. Decker had lived in Warren for many years before moving back to Cranford 12 years ago. Mr. Decker was employed as a Tool & Die Maker for the American Type Founders in Elizabeth for 25 years. Later in life he worked as a Custodian for the Warren School System. Mr. Decker was the past Chaplain for the Watchung Hills Elks Lodge #2252 from 1993 to 1997. He also was a long-standing member of the Atlas Pythagoras Lodge #10 F&AM in Cranford, as well as one of their officers. Russell was also an avid NASCAR fan. He is predeceased by his wife, Lauretta Decker in 1983. He is survived by his son, Norman L. Decker and his wife Donna of Cranford. Two sisters, Violet and Doris and four grandchildren, Corey, Kara, Lisa and Jonathan. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, 1100 East Broad Street, Westfield. Arrangements are by Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung.
