Colonie, NY Nathan Abeles age 89, died on Saturday January 24th at home. Mr. Abeles was born in Passaic, NJ and had lived in North Plainfield and Plainfield for 55 years before moving to Colonie, NY nine months ago. He was in industrial sales for US Brass and Copper in Linden, NJ for over 40 years retiring 10 years ago. Mr. Abeles was an avid horseman and was involved in the founding of the Johnson Park Horse Show in New Brunswick, NJ. He served as a 1st lieutenant in the First Calvary Mounted Division in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the former Temple Beth El of Plainfield and Temple Beth Israel in Scotch Plains, he was also a member of the Plainfield Health Club. Surviving are his wife Doris Swersky Abeles, son Stephen and his partner Raymond Attanasio of Stanfordville, NY; two daughters Linda Seigelman and her husband Howard of Warren, NJ and Cynthia Gifford and her husband Drew of Clarksville, NY; a brother Martin Abeles of Delray Beach, Florida and two grandchildren Samantha Seigelman of Brooklyn, NY and Natalie Gifford of Clarksville, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.
