Obituary of Ruth Shanahan

Plainfield: Ruth Totton Shanahan, 94, died Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Bayonne, she resided in Middlesex for many years before moving to Plainfield. Mrs. Shanahan was a telephone operator and manager for Bell Atlantic for 45 years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and going to libraries. Her first husband, James Alfred Reeves, second husband, William Shanahan, three brothers, James, Frank and Edward Totten, two sisters, Elsie Mackas and Joyce Keidelling and a son-in-law, Joseph Scheiderman all predeceased her. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Scheiderman of South Plainfield, a brother, Earl Totten of PA, two grandchildren, Joseph Scheiderman of Virginia and Ward Scheiderman and his wife Beth of Green Brook and three great grandchildren, Robert and Stephanie Scheiderman and Joseph Scheiderman III. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 pm at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral Services will be held privately.
