Obituary of Douglas Smith
Mr. Douglas Smith, 80, died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Newark Beth Israel Hospital in Newark.
Born in South Plainfield, he resided in Plainfield before moving to North Plainfield 54 years ago.
Mr. Smith graduated from the Newark College of Engineering
Prior to retiring, Mr. Smith was employed for over 30 years as a draftsman for Lockheed Electronics in North Plainfield.
He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in North Plainfield.
A Civil War and railroad buff, Mr. Smith enjoyed playing the xylophone. He was also a member of the F and A Masons.
Surviving are his wife, Alma Dresselt Smith, two nieces, Gail Parrish and her husband Eugene of Athens, PA and Rosalyn Brown of Florida; 3 grand nieces and 3 grand nephews and 3 great grand nephews and 4 great grand nieces.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset Street in North Plainfield with Pastor Gunner Anderson officiating, followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held from 10:00 -12:00 noon at the funeral home.
