Obituary of Walter V. Stemkowski
Walter V. Stemkowski, age 79, died on Thursday February 19th at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Jersey City and had lived in Carteret and Jamesburg before moving to Piscataway in 1979. He was a warehouse manager for Hatfield Wire Co. retiring in 1986. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the VFW both in Carteret. Surviving are his wife Ruth A. Stemkowski; two daughters Barbara DaGraca of Warren and Janet Belko and her husband Allen of Edison; two sisters; Helen Zdaniewicz and Sophie Davis of Iselin and five grandchildren Dana & Gregg DaGraca, Barbara Coyle, Andrea Ciampa and Christine Belko. He is predeceased by a brother Frank Stemkowski, a sister Frances Sikora and a son-in-law Charles P. DaGraca. Funeral services will be held on Monday February 23rd at 9:30 a.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren. Interment will follow at Cloverleaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m
