Obituary of Josephine C. Birofka
Josephine C. (Bruno) Birofka, 92, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at her home.
Born in West Orange, she resided in Summit before moving to Martinsville 20 years ago.
Prior to retiring at age 78, Mrs. Birofka was employed as a clerk for Hill City Cleaners in Summit for 30 years.
She was an active member of the Warrenbrook Senior Citizens, playing bingo every Tuesday and Thursday. In addition, she loved to knit and crochet afghans, slipper socks and baby sweaters. Every day shed look forward to walking Oliver, the family dog and sitting with Midnight, the cat, but her true joy was spending her time with her granddaughter Rylie Dale.
Her husband, William Birofka predeceased her in 1976 and a son-in-law Dale J. Del Balzo died in 1994.
Surviving are a daughter Karen Del Balzo of Martinsville, a granddaughter, Jessica Del Balzo of Flemington, a great granddaughter Rylie Dale Kukal of Flemington and two sisters, Rose Colandrea of Springfield and Pat Abels of FL.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2004 at 9:15 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10 am funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Martinsville and interment at St. Teresas Cemetery in Summit. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Memorial donations to either the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265 or the American Heart Association, 2550 US Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 would be appreciated.
