Obituary of Katherine D. Gardin

Katherine D. Gardin, age 43, died on Friday April 2, 2004 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Mrs. Gardin was born in Plainfield and was raised in Scotch Plains and had resided in South Plainfield before moving back to Plainfield in 1974. Prior to retiring in 2002, she worked for eight years as an Accountant for Prudential Life Insurance in Woodbridge NJ. Mrs. Gardin enjoyed reading, traveling, and making trips to Atlantic City. She collected works of art, fine china, and original lithographs of classic cartoon characters. She is survived by two sons Duane Dudley of Plainfield and Christopher Underdue of Plainfield, an Aunt Marion Gillette and her husband Douglas of Scotch Plains, her foster parents Robert and Georgia Freeman of Somerset.She also leaves a devoted Aunt BettyeJ.Mathis of Plainfield, her sister-friend Carla R. Turner and a beloved God-Daughter Keiara Turner of NorthPlainfield. She is also survived by a dedicated friend who stayed with her at the hospital untilher passing Sherelle Bowers ofPlainfield. Sheleaves a host of relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 8th 2004 at Higgins Home for Funerals 209 West Eighth Street Plainfield NJ, 07060 with Reverend Robert Martin officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
