Obituary of Kenneth Edward Smith

Kenneth Edward Smith, 73, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at Centra State Health Care System in Freehold. Born in Ansonia, CT, he resided in Newark and Roselle Park before moving to Jackson 20 years ago. For the past 31 years, Ken was a self employed antique dealer at Smiths Old Prints and Books in Jackson. He enjoyed doing shows in NY. He was a past member of Grace and Peace Fellowship in Roselle Park. He was a man full of life with varied interests such as handicapping thoroughbred horse racing and making trips to Las Vegas. He also loved playing with Einstein, the family dog. His brother Preston Smith predeceased him in 2002. Surviving are his wife Jean Simone Smith of Somerset; a daughter, Karen Davis and her husband Stewart of Somerset; a step-son Richard Kooken and his wife Marge of Old Bridge and a step-daughter Jeanne Kappel of Morristown and a sister, Shirley Okoniewski of Phillipsburg. Also surviving his granddaughter, Christi Kappel Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 30 at 11 am at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 11:00 am.
