Obituary of James V. Soriano

Mr. James V. Soriano, 88, died Friday, April 30, 2004 at Renaissance Gardens at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls. Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Peapack and then to Plainfield and resided there until moving to Hillsborough in 1987. In 1998, Mr. Soriano moved to Tinton Falls. Prior to retiring in 1978, Mr. Soriano was employed as a maintenance foreman for the City of Plainfield. A communicant of St. Bernards R.C. Church in Plainfield, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Plainfield. He was an avid gardener and handyman. His wife Philomena Apisa Soriano predeceased him in 1986. Surviving are two sons, James Soriano currently serving with the Department of State in Iraq and Anthony Soriano of Fair Haven; one daughter, Irene Tavares of Paget, Bermuda and 5 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset St., North Plainfield, followed by a 10:00 am funeral Mass at St. Bernards R.C. Church in Plainfield and interment at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Seabrook Village Benevolent Fund, 3000 Essex Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07753.
