Obituary of Norma A. Koed
Norma Ahrens Koed, age 79, died on Sunday, May 2, 2004 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. She was born in Brooklyn and lived in Short Hills before moving to Watchung 46 years ago.
Mrs. Koed attended Upsala College in East Orange.
She was a reporter with the Newark News in the 1950s and was a reporter and served as Editor of the Echo Sentinnel in the late 1960s. She was a member of the Watchung Board of Adjustment from 1977 to 1995, a volunteer at the Watchung Library for over 30 years and served as Treasurer of the Friends of the Watchung Library during the 1990s. She was one of the founders of the Watchung Heritage Coalition which was formed in 2001.
Mrs. Koed was predeceased by her husband, Norman S. Koed who died in 2000. She is survived by her son Ronald B. Peterson and his wife Paula of Watchung; a grandson, Kyle B. Peterson of Watchung; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Ahrens of Morristown; a niece, Carolyn Cherry of Chatham; a nephew, John B. Ahrens of Westchester, PA.
Friends and relatives may visit at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung on Wednesday, May 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Cremation will be private.
