Obituary of Robert S. Feldman

Robert S. Feldman, age 78, died on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born and raised in Plainfield, Mr. Feldman has lived in North Plainfield for the past 39 years. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1943 and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the Fall of 1943, he took a leave of absence from UNC and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a decorated combat veteran serving in the European Theater during W.W.II. He was with the 273rd Regiment, 69th Infantry Division of the 1st Army. He returned to UNC and graduated in 1949 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Finance, where he was also was the president of the ZBT Fraternity at UNC in Chapel Hill. Mr. Feldman was a small business proprietor in Middlesex for many years, retiring in 1982. He had also obtained his NJ real estate license. He was a member of the North Plainfield and Somerset County Republican Clubs and for the past 40 years, Mr. Feldman was a tireless volunteer and activist for the handicapped through the ARC of Union County. He is survived by his wife, Frances N. Ashner Feldman; two sons, Gregory L. Feldman and his wife Janis, and Bruce Feldman; one brother, Bart Feldman and his wife Terri; three sisters, Beatrice Jaffe, Claire Sperling and Shirley Gelman; and his loving granddaughter, Kylie Bess Feldman. Mr. Feldman had many interests, but the focus of his whole life was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and Poppy to his beloved granddaughter Kylie. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14th at 10 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield with Rabbi Norman Patz and Rabbi Levi Block officiating.
