William Albert Steeber, age 80, died on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at his home in Warren. Mr. Steeber was born in Newark and had lived in Warren since 1930.




Prior to his retirement in 1995, Mr. Steeber was a butcher for Russo Packing in Newark. Previously, he was a butcher for Harry Mundy and Sons in Warren.




He served in the Navy during World War II as a gunman accompanying the Merchant Marines in the Mediterranean and the North Atlantic.




Mr. Steeber enjoyed fishing and hunting.




He is predeceased by his wife Claire in1996.




Surviving are his son Glenn Steeber and his wife Leslie of Bound Brook; his daughter Gwen Paulson and her husband Donald of Cranford; his sister Aleta Swarin of Bridgewater and two grandchildren Sherri Lyn Strauss and Christopher Steeber.




Visitation will be on Friday, May 28th from 6 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd,. Watchung. Cremation will be private.
