Obituary of Gertrude F. O´Donohue

Gertrude F. McConnell ODonohue died, surrounded by loving family, on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at Muhlenberg Regional Hospital in Plainfield. Gert was born in Manhattan and had lived in Green Brook for 6 years before moving to Warren over 39 years ago. She received her R.N. degree from St. Vincents School of Nursing in Manhattan in 1953. Gert worked in Quality Assurance for H & R Block in Green Brook for 12 years. She also worked at St. Vincent de Paul School in Stirling, NJ and the Warren Twp. Public schools. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church. She is predeceased by two grandsons, Joseph Patrick ODonohue and Tighe Christopher ODonohue. She is survived by her husband, John P. ODonohue, with whom she just celebrated their 50th Anniversary; her daughters Margaret Capozzolo, Mary Ellen Halper, Kathleen Russell, Elizabeth Quinn, Rosemarie McGilligan and Allison Duffy; her sons, John M. ODonohue, James P. ODonohue and Christopher A. ODonohue; her sister, Geraldine Geissler and her brother, Alexander McConnell. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 7th at 9:00 a.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Mount Church, Warren. Cremation will be private. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday, June 5th from 7-9 and on Sunday, June 6th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the Audubon Society, Dept. W, 700 Broadway, New York, NY 10003; to the Raptor Trust, 1390 White Bridge Road, Millington, NJ 07946 or to the Warren Township Rescue Squad, 6 Bardy Road, Warren, NJ 07059.
