Obituary of Catherine M. “Kitty” Pender

Catherine M. (Kitty) Pender, (nee Sivco) died on Thursday, June 17th at her home in Plainfield. Mrs. Pender was a lifelong Plainfield resident. She was a graduate of Plainfield Schools and Drake Business College. Mrs. Pender was a secretary for the Board of Education and president of the Jefferson School PTA. She retired in 1981 as Supervisor of Accounts Payable for the city of Plainfield. She was a communicant of St. Marys R.C. Church in Plainfield; was a Rosarian, a Catholic Golden Age member and a member of the Catholics Women Club. She is the daughter of the late Steven V. and Elizabeth (Sepelya) Sivco. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Jr., her son Robert III, her brother Steven and her sister Anna Mae Long. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons Charles (Chuck) of Plainfield and Scott and his wife Barbara of Piscataway and her daughter-in-law Barbara of Florida. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Marys R.C. Church in Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday, June 21st from 2-4 & 7-9.
