Obituary of Dionisio Martinez-Perez

Dionisio Martinez-Perez, age 78, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. He was born in Puerto Rico and had resided in Newark and New York before moving to Plainfield over 30 years ago. Prior to his retirement 13 years ago, he worked for Michael Anthonys Restaurant in South Plainfield. Mr. Martinez-Perez enjoyed telling jokes, loved to laugh and cook. He also enjoyed watching military movies and The Animal Planet. He is survived by his wife, Aida L. Martinez; his sons Homero (Tati) Martinez, Osbel Monroig, Rafael Monroig, Rogelio Monroig and Ivan Monroig; his daughter, Lourdes Monroig; two brothers, Choro Juan Martinez and Benanzio Martinez; his sisters, Iluminada Martinez and Julia Martinez. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, Benjamin Gonzalez, Jacquline Monroig, Alex Monroig, Thomason Monroig, Roger Monroig, Jr., Zandra Monroig and Junior Malave. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 24th from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, June 25th from 7 9 p.m.
