Mrs. Anthoula "Ann" Carioty Karpodinis, 83, died Sunday, July 4, 2004 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Rochester, NY, she moved to Astoria, Queens at the age of 7 and resided there until moving to Brooklyn. In 1952 she moved to North Plainfield. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Karpodinis was employed for 10 years as a diamond cutter for H.A. Winston in New York City. A homemaker, Mrs. Karpodinis assisted her husband Alex at their three restaurants; The Highway Diner, Bridgewater Diner and the Coral Lounge. Ann was a member of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway and the North Plainfield Senior Citizens. Her husband of 51 years, Alexandros "Alex" Karpodinis, predeceased her in 2000. Daughter of the late Constandinos and Sanfou Sapatas Carioty, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Mersina Econ and Helen Policatti. Surviving are two sons, Dean Karpodinis of North Plainfield and Jim Karpodinis and his wife Kim of Tampa, FL, a daughter, Effie Judge and her husband Tom of Lawrenceville, a sister, Evangelin De Cicco of Farmington, CT and four grandchildren, Lisa and Jimmy Judge and Alexander and Alexis Karpodinis. Services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 9:30 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset St., North Plainfield followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway and entombment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
