Obituary of Helen Sarkanich

Helen Oros Sarkanich, 85, died suddenly Saturday, July 10, 2004 at her home. Born in Czechoslovakia, she emigrated to the United States in 1954 and resided in Newark before moving to Warren in 1975. Mrs. Sarkanich was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Dunellen and was active in the Warren Senior Citizens. A constant giver, she was a woman who made others feel good. She enjoyed gardening and home cooking. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Gabriel I. Sarkanich; two daughters, Gabriella M. Sarkanich of Warren and Natalie Sarkanich Watson, MD and her husband Don B. Watson of Watchung; two grandchildren, Thomas Gabriel Watson and his wife Hadley of New York City and Lydia Watson Smith and her husband Steven Thomas of Louisville, KY; and three great grandchildren, Alexa Smith, Knox Gabriel Watson and Lauren Natalya Smith. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10:30 am funeral Mass at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Dunellen and interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. with a 3:00 pm Panahida Service.
