Obituary of Bertha Breitstein

Bertha Breitstein, age 76, died on Sunday, July 18, 2004 at her home. She was born in Germany and fled to Shanghai where she lived for 9 years before moving to Newark in 1948 after which she moved to North Plainfield in 1957. Mrs. Breitstein was a self-employed seamstress for over 40 years. She was a member of Temple Beth El, which is now Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains. She was also an active member of the Bnai Brith and Haddassh. Mrs Breitstein was also a life member of Deborah. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Arthur Breitstein in 1994 and her sister, Ann Goldman in 1998. Surviving are her daughters, Dr. Deborah Breitstein and her husband, Dr. Steven Tepper of Freehold and Donna Breitstein. Also surviving is her brother, Kurt Baron of St. Louis. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset Street, North Plainfield. Interment will be in Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.
