Obituary of Rose Lee Williams

Rose Lee Beckett Williams, age 70, died on Monday, July 19, 2004 at the Norwood Terrace Health Center in Plainfield. Born in Estill, SC to Richard Beckett and the late Elizabeth Wallace Beckett, Mrs. Williams had lived in Brooklyn, NY for 43 years, then moved to Colorado Springs, CO for 5 years and then resided in Plainfield in 2001. Mrs. Williams worked for Modern Day Nursery School in Brooklyn, NY as a Teachers Aide for 12 years. She was a member of the Evening Star Baptist Church in Brooklyn from 1952 to 1995. She taught their Bible Study class, the Sunday School class, and also was a Deaconess of their church. While in Colorado Springs, Mrs. Williams was the Deaconess of the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to cook, play bingo, sew, and bowl. She always organized the family reunions with the family members from all over the United States. Mrs. Williams is predeceased by her husband, Paul Williams; her brother, Lorenzo Beckett; and her sister, Richardine Bing. She is survived by her father, Richard Beckett; one daughter, Paulette Stocks and her husband Malcolm of Ayden, NC; three sons, Kevin R. Williams and his wife Greta of Plainfield; Michael Williams of Colorado Springs, CO; Reginald M. Williams of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Marion Beckett of Brooklyn, NY and Henry Beckett of Estill, SC; five sisters, Clarice Randolph and her husband Grady of Queens, NY; Zenobia Mitchell of Brooklyn; Nancy Wilcox of Estill, SC; Lenora Jackson of Savannah GA and Eunice Bryant of Estill, SC. Six grandchildren, Michael Jamaal Williams, Kori Stocks, Alvina Joy Williams, Kevin A. Williams, Niiajia Williams, and Brandon M. Stocks. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Fountain Baptist Church, 116 Glenside Avenue, Summit. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am at the church. Interment will be in the Brellah Field Cemetery in Garnett, SC.
