Obituary of Joyce Wilson
Joyce (Ralph) Wilson, age 76, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at her home in Piscataway.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Georgetown, Guyana, came to America in 1979 and settled in Brooklyn, then moved to South Plainfield and resided in Piscataway since 1995. She received her BA degree in English from the University of Guyana in 1974 and her Masters degree in Education from Brooklyn College in 1983. She was a member of the St. Marks Episcopal church in Plainfield.
Mrs. Wilson was a teacher for almost 50 years. She taught at St. Marks Preparatory School and PS 238 both in Brooklyn and then at Stillman School in Plainfield from 1985 until her retirement in 1997. Prior to this she taught many children at all levels of education from elementary through High School in Guyana. Mrs. Wilson received the Teacher of the Year Award in New Jersey in 1987.
Mrs. Wilson is predeceased by her two husbands, Victor Emmanuel Ralph in 1971 and Edgar Mordante Wilson in 1984.
She is survived by three sons, Eldon Ralph of Maryland; Brian Ralph of Michigan and Colin Ralph of South Orange NJ; one daughter, Carol London of Piscataway NJ. Three brothers, Alwyn, Milton and Cyril Trotman; three sisters Eileen Harewood, Rose Bridgewater and Patricia Hazel and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Marks Episcopal Church, Park Avenue, Plainfield NJ 07060. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Linden NJ. Visitation will be on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the church.
