Obituary of Florence Battaglia

Mrs. Florence DeVivo Battaglia, 90, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater. Born in Brooklyn, she resided in Howard Beach and Dix Hills, NY before moving to Warren in 1984. Prior to retiring 27 years ago, Mrs. Battaglia was employed as a postal worker for the General Post Office at John F. Kennedy International Airport for 10 years. Mrs. Battaglia volunteered for several years at the soup kitchen in Long Island. A member of the Warrenbrook Senior Citizens in Warren, she enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, playing video games and crossword puzzles. Her husband Michael predeceased her in 1982 as well as three brothers, Thomas, John and Edward DeVivo and two sisters Bess Improte and Josephine Caputo. Surviving are a daughter Florence Vocatura and her husband Vincent of Warren, and two grandchildren Tara Pillion and Kimberly Richard. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 9:30 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10:00 am funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren and entombment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
