Obituary of Ellen Theresa Tuohy

Ellen T. (nee Bowens) Tuohy, age 93, died on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at the Berkeley Heights Convalescent Center in Berkeley Heights. Born in Roscommon, Ireland to the late Michael and Ellen Mahon Bowens, Mrs. Tuohy came to the United States as a young girl living in Jersey City before residing in Basking Ridge. She was a former communicant of St. Johns RC Church in Jersey City. A member of their Rosary Altar Society, and she has been involved in many Irish cultural activities. She is currently a communicant of St. James RC Church in Basking Ridge. Mrs. Tuohy is predeceased by her husband, Bernard Tuohy in 1972. She is survived by her daughter, Veronica Hudson and her husband Donald of Basking Ridge; two grandchildren, Michael Hudson and his wife Kelly and Elizabeth Hudson. Also survived by many nieces and a nephew. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 18th at 9 a.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. James RC Church in Basking Ridge. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m.
