Obituary of Charles W. Brown

Charles W. Brown, 74, (Uncle Buddy),died Thursday, August 26, 2004 at his home. Born in Plainfield, he resided at the family homes at 711 West Fourth Street and 212 Spooner Avenue in Plainfield before moving to North Plainfield 2 years ago. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Brown was employed as a custodian for the Plainfield Board of Education at Plainfield High School for 15 years. Previously, he worked at Art Color in Dunellen in the shipping department for 18 years. An Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Plainfield and its Holy Name Society. He loved jazz, collecting all the records of the old masters. Son of the late Charles E. and Alice Tilghman Brown, he was also predeceased by two sisters, Doris E. Brown and Rebecca Jane Brown. Leaving to grieve are two sisters Nancy R. (James) Jones of North Plainfield and Shirley A. Williams of Plainfield, several nieces, nephews and grandnieces. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2004 at 9:30 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West Eighth Street in Plainfield, followed by a 10:00 am funeral Mass at St. Mary's R.C. Church in Plainfield and entombment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
