Obituary of Vernon Lee Powell

Vernon Lee Powell, age 82, died on Friday October 1st, at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Powell was born in Elizabeth where he resided for many years before moving to Plainfield in 1964. Prior to retiring in 1987, Mr. Powell worked as a fork lift operator for Fischer Scientific in Springfield for 25 years. Mr. Powell was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII. He loved bowling in his spare time. He is predeceased by his parents Robert & Dorothy Powell and his brother Richard Powell in 2004. He is survived by his wife Lillian Griffin Powell, his son Scott Powell of Plainfield; a daughter Patricia Brown of Hillside; 2 granddaughters and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 5th, at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Bound Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home
