Obituary of John A. Brown

Dr. John A. Brown of Warren, formerly of Berkeley Heights, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 from stroke complications. He was 78. Dr. Brown was born in Lake Wales, FL. He graduated from Emory University and earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Chemistry from Georgia Tech University. He worked for Esso for several years before starting his own company, John Brown Associates, Inc. in 1973. He held several patents and served on the Environmental Commission and the Green Brook Flood Control Commission. He was also a member of many scientific societies. He also served on the Berkeley Heights Board of Education. He was also a past officer of the Long Hill Township Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed photography and travel. . Dr. Brown is predeceased by his first wife, Rebecca Lever. He is survived by his wife, Susan Easterday Brown; his 3 children, Louise Jasko, Charles Brown and Rebecca Edgerly; his 8 grand-children and 1 great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 18, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 419 South Street, New Providence. Interment will be at Mt. Horeb Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 7pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
