Obituary of Marie C. Raleigh

Marie C. Raleigh, age 108 died on Sunday, October 24, 2004 at a private residence in Toms River. She was born in Brooklyn NY in 1896 and had lived there until 1975 when she moved to Leisure Village West in Lakehurst before finally settling in Toms River in 2003. Prior to her retirement in the 1960s, she was an office manager for Brooklyn Union Gas in Brooklyn NY. Mrs. Raleigh was a communicant of St. Johns RC Church in Lakehurst. She was an active volunteer for the Lighthouse for the Blind in Brooklyn, NY and was a member of the Womens Business Club in Brooklyn. When she was younger, she enjoyed traveling with her sister. She is predeceased by her husband Walter Raleigh in 1952. Surviving are her niece, Joan Livornese and her husband Lawrence of Martinsville; her nephews Emil Hembrooke and his wife Jean of San Jose, CA and Robert Lankeau and his wife Mary Anne of Tuscon, AZ. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
