Obituary of Dorothy Margaret Flannery

Plainfield: Dorothy M. (Kloss) Flannery, age 81, died on Wednesday November 24th, 2004 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield NJ. Mrs. Flannery was born in Neenah WI, and had resided in PA and Summit NJ before moving to Plainfield 36 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1992, Mrs. Flannery had worked as the executive secretary to the chief of Police in Plainfield for 18 year. She is a World War II veteran having served in the Womens Army Corps. During her service, Mrs. Flannery served as executive secretary to Brigadier General Leslie Groves, commander of the Manhattan Project. She was also the executive secretary to the Commander of the Mercury 7 Astronauts at the Johnsonville Naval Air Station in PA. Mrs. Flannery is also a member of the New Jersey Chapter 74 of the Womens Army Corps. She is survived by her husband Edward Flannery of Plainfield NJ; a son Michael Flannery and his wife Lois of Lexington KY; two daughters Sharon Franklin of North Plainfield, and Cecelia Schoeberlein and her husband William of Baltimore MD, a sister-in-law June Kloss of Green Bay WI. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Abby, Eddy, Colin, Corey, Chelsie, Casey, Will, and Stephanie. Funeral Services will be held at 8:30 am on Monday November 29th 2004 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ 07069 followed by a 9:00 am funeral mass at St. Josephs R.C. North Plainfield NJ. Interment to be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown NJ. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm at the funeral home.
