Obituary of Arthur Goldstein
Arthur Goldstein, age 84, died on Monday January 3rd 2005 at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach FL. Mr. Goldstein was born in Bronx NY and had resided in Brooklyn NY, Plainfield NJ and Watchung NJ before moving to Boca Raton FL in 1991
Mr. Goldstein was the owner and founder of Arthur's Jewelers and Distributors Store; opening his first store in 1945, with a GI Loan of $2000, in Plainfield NJ. By the time Mr. Goldstein retired in 1991 Arthur's had grown to eight stores and 1000 employees. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. Mr. Goldstein was a member and past president of Temple Sholom in Plainfield NJ and was past president of the Plainfield Chamber of Commerce. He sat on the board at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Plainfield NJ and the Red Cross. He was also a member of the B'Nai Brith Society and was a President of the Lions Club. Mr. Goldstein had also been involved in fund raising to support Diabetes.
He is predeceased by his wife Myra Goldstein in 1997.
Mr. Goldstein is survived by a son Howard Goldstein in Boca Raton FL; a daughter Shelley Davimos of Watchung NJ; two brothers Harry and Al Goldstein. He is also survived by six grandchildren Jonathan, Jeremy, Hannah and Danielle Goldstein and Jeff and Scott Davimos, one great-grandchild, Katherine Goldstein and his companion Maddy Fein.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m.on Thursday January 6th 2005 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069. Followed by the interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin NJ. Memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Research Institute, University of Miami School of Medicine, 3440 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood FL, 33021.
