Obituary of John C. Morella, III
John C. Morella, III, age 54, died on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. He was born in Plainfield and had lived in Basking Ridge for the past 10 years. Mr. Morella was the owner of J. Morella and Sons Trucking Company for 25 years and also worked for the Millington Quarry for 15 years. Most recently, he was the Fleet Manager for Allied Oil in Hillsborough for 3 years. He was a past President of The New Jersey Motor Truck Association. Mr. Morella was a member of the Somerset Hills Lutheran Church in Basking Ridge and was Vice President of the congregation as well as a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Morella enjoyed skeet shooting, hunting and was a member of the Thunder Mountain Shooting Club in Ringwood, NJ and the North Jersey Clay Target Club in Fairfield. He was a referee for wrestling and an umpire for high school baseball leagues with many games played in The Somerset Patriots Stadium. Surviving are his wife, Donna (Arnold) Morella; his sons, John Morella, Joseph Morella and Zachary Barnard; his daughter, Emily Barnard; his mother, Dorothy Suba Morella; his brothers, Bob Morella, Ronald Morella, Daniel Morella, Christopher Morella and Matthew Morella and his sister, Cindy Regan. There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday, January 17th at 4:00 p.m. at the Somerset Hills Lutheran Church, 350 Lake Road, Basking Ridge, NJ followed by visitation at Basking Ridge Country Club, 158 Madisonville Rd. Basking Ridge from 5 to 8 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation, 94 Old Short Hills Road Livingston, NJ 07039 or to the Somerset Hills Lutheran Church, 350 Lake Rd.
