Dear Ray,
While we had many good times in person over the last 15 years, my most treasured memories involve the lively, lengthy talks we had on the phone. In the beginning they were
mostly about your explaining how the public television system works and advising me on what to
do to get my cross-cultural film produced and aired on PBS. It didn’t
take long, however, for us to move on to cover the gamut of what was going on in our lives and the world
at large. My husband, Mike, especially enjoyed his many discussions with you about politics and
Latino issues. You were so incisive, passionate, and just plain funny about any and every thing!
No doubt mastery of humor is at least part of the secret to your phenomenal successes. My favorite example of its highest and best use came when we served on a panel together several years ago in Washington – I watched in fascination as you repeatedly defused pomposity and nonsense with wit, at just the right time and in the perfect tone.
I shared another of your many triumphs when “Orozco In Gringoland” received a standing ovation at the Dallas Museum of Art. Translation of this film and distribution to all Spanish-speaking countries is still on my must-do list. Mike joins me in thanking you for the many cariñosos recuerdos - que Dios te bendiga, dear friend.

Ray, you were a great mentor, a great leader, a great person. You always placed the future of others before your own. Your passion for the arts and politics always seemed to amaze me. How did you do it..produce shows, run a business, help the community, be a partner to Ken, and still have time to be a mentor and friend. You will truely and most certainly be missed. I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to see eachother sooner but we will meet again. May your spirit live in peace my friend, my mentor, my Ray.
Love Always,
Melissa

Ray, it’s with great sorrow that I write this message. I’ve known you almost my whole life and it feels like that wasn’t enough. I always wanted to thank you for all that you did for me and all that you taught me. You were my teacher, you were my mentor, you were my family, and you were my friend. You showed me what the real world was all about and made me ready for it. I didn’t always understand the lessons then, but I want you to know that I got it. Ray, you will be greatly missed, but your memory will never be forgotten by me or by anyone privileged enough to have know you. My condolences go out to Ken and the rest of the family, you are in our prayers.

I first had the great pleasure to work with Ray back in '82, '83 @ Loews theatres when we were both assistant mgrs. Those were crazy days and we both would laugh & howl out loud at the antics which occurred back then when we would touch base from time to time over the years.
I saw the article in the Star Ledger from Sunday's paper just today & was hoping the Ray Blanco the article's headline listed wasn't the wonderful person I worked with 20 odd years ago.
Ray, you were one of the best! Such fun to work with. I regret not keeping in more recent closer touch. Now I'll just have to look up to the sky to say hi.
Sleep well old friend.
My heartfelt codolences to you Ken, and the rest of Ray's family on his passing and your great loss.

My husband Leif Smith and I first connected with Ray in 1985 through our research business. We shared with Ray a love of entrepreneurship, art, movies and crosscultural projects. We always admired Ray's idealism and his ability to make his dreams, and the dreams of others, come true.

I had the pleasure of working with Ray during the end of my senior year of high school when I was interning at the office of Assemblywoman Angela Perun.
What I remember most about Ray is his smile. He always had a way of seeing the humor even in the most trying circumstances. He made every workday a joyous day, and that was a wondeful quality to bring into this world.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Ken and the rest of Ray's family.
Wishing you strength and healing at this difficult time.

Ray was one-of-a-kind. I was lucky enough to meet him and learn from him while I worked at WPIX-TV. Ray was always passionate! He taught me a great deal about Latino history and culture.I was always inquisitive-and he always had an answer... Ray's passing is a huge loss.
Que descanse en paz, amigo...
