I took this photo of Sam circa 1983. Sam was a regular at the West End and Riviera Diners, where I waitressed. It was during a visit to his hot dog truck that he revealed a bit about his service in WWII, as well as a single photo he had taken of a pile of emaciated corpses that he was shocked to find when he liberated Buchenwald. I think of you often, Sam, and thank you for your service. Rest peacefully, Marla
