Granville Browne was not only a great Brother-in-Law, but a great friend, Godfather and Uncle. He will be greatly missed and has left us all with such great fond memories.
Granville has always taken the time to make sure his nieces and nephews were spoiled to no end. I remember Granville getting Calvin's first bike. Calvin said he did not want a bike but Granny did not let up on that. His response was 'every boy needs a bike'. Well, Granville bought that first bike and taught Calvin how to ride it. Arius wanted a red wagon so of course Granville found a wagon, paid $5 for it, painted it fire engine red and fixed it up to make it look brand new. Also to memory, for Thanksgiving one year, Granville took Hope and Lizzette to the farm to catch a goose. What a sight that was, seeing everyone chasing a goose, which they never caught. The farm hand watched them for about an hour, falling and running in the snow covered ground. The farm hand said, 'I think I better help them out because they are never going to catch a goose the way they are going.'
On many occasions we would gather our lunches and take the children fishing.
He often spoke of how proud he was of his son Granville, Jr. and his accomplishments as a child and a man.
Granville and myself, have had many talks in which he had given me good advice on some of life's different circumstances and I still take that advice he has given me to heart.
These are the types things that most people never saw or knew about Granville.
What a wonderful fulfilling life he had.
I am sorry I am unable to attend Granville's going home celebration but his life will always be celebrated in my heart with fond memories and love.
