Obituary of Theresa Sheelen

Theresa Desmond Sheelen, age 64, died on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. She was born in Plainfield and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Sheelen was the Hospitality Coordinator for McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney and Carpenter Law Firm in Harding Township. She was formerly employed in the Human Resource Dept. at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Mrs. Sheelen was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Westfield, a Eucharistic Minister, a Parish Life Committee member and a member of Cornerstone. She was a former communicant of St. Marys Church in Plainfield. Mrs. Sheelen was a member of the Mothers Club of St. Josephs High School in Metuchen and the Mothers Guild of Mt. St. Marys Academy in Watchung. She was also the chairperson for the 50th year reunion at St. Marys Grammar School in Plainfield. She is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Sheelen; her son, Michael D. Sheelen and his wife, Colleen of Hillsborough; her daughter, Tracey Sheelen of NYC; her brothers. Msgr. Michael Desmond of Caldwell and Frank T. Desmond and his wife Deborah of Tampa, FL. She was the loving aunt to Christian, Caitlin and Chase Desmond and Frank Sheelen. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28th at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St. Plainfield followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Marys Church in Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
