Mrs. Marquis and Family,
Syl was our Gateway sales rep.and he was wonderful. He was the type of salesman you always hope to have. But, he was clearly a great man also! He was honest, dignified, honorable, cheerful, and always made me glad when I saw him. He will be truly missed by me and our staff here at Millersville University. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Greg Schmalhofer

Sylvio & I grew up in the same neighborhood one street away from one another. we got on the bus together on our first day of school and were friends all thru childhood and high school. he was like a brother to me and he used to come over to my house after school and play pool with my brothers. he had the most beautiful smile and dimples and the girls envied me that I was his friend, although we never dated. we lost touch when we graduated and I only saw sylvio when he came home from college during break. I was engaged and married at 19 and had a baby at 20 so my life went in a different direction. I used to babysit for his mom once in a while and remember Tina, Michael & Mark. I know he will be missed by his family. He sounds like he was surrounded by love and that is a comfort. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife, children & grandchildren, and also his parents and siblings.

In LCHS homeroom, Sylvio sat in front of me sometimes or behind me and I remember his laugh and his smile. He was always cheerful, everyone seemed to want to be around him. I regret not getting to know him better, but I never saw Sylvio since our graduation. I am so sorry for your loss and send my deepest regrets to Sylvio's wife and family.
Sincerely,
Jane Matsinger-Cullen

Dear Mrs Marquis and family,
"Syl" I will never forget him. He was the best teacher I have EVER HAD! @ Valley view Mr. Marquis taught me science & Computers and so much more. He was so kind and had so much patience with me. He joked a lot and loved to tease me I felt like he was a 2nd Dad away from my real Dad in school. He even had a shirt made for me to remind me of a guy I had a crush on. It was our "little secret" I think of him so often since I work on Computers for my boss. With my Mothers permission, he even gave me a farewell kiss @ graduation and boy, did I EVER BLUSH!!!!!! I feel so bad that he is gone and know that I will NEVER forget him!!! He will always be in my prayers and thoughts. God bless you. Love in Mercy, Sue Harding

My father was an exceptional individual. He touched the lives of every person that he ever came in contact with – which is evident by the outpouring of love and support that he and my family received during this time.
He was a great father, husband, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. I cannot remember a time in my life when he wasn’t there to lend an ear, to offer a helping hand or to share a laugh with. He made every day so much brighter by just being him. He enjoyed being with his family above anything else, especially his grandchildren. He always told my brother, sister and I that he was put on this earth to be a grandfather – and we obliged eight times in almost 5 years. A statistic he loved to boast about especially to his friend, Paul Sperber. Nothing meant more to him than time with his grandchildren sharing his love of life, family and fun.
My father was a truly generous individual – in every sense of the word. He walked through life with so much kindness and grace. Somebody who would do anything for anyone, just to be kind. It is such a testament to the idea that life is about the feeling you have left in the world and the impression you have made on others.
Dad, we will miss your smiling eyes, your Santa Clause cheeks, your laugh – especially when you laughed so hard that your eyes would tear and you sounded like your were wheezing – it was so infectious. We will miss your love and passion of life. But most of all we will just miss you.
We are all better for having been loved by you. It has been an honor to be your family.

Syl will be deeply missed by me. He was a mentor – leader –a godly man - innovator – gentleman – and a role model for us to follow. His kindness was an inspiration to everyone he touched. I always enjoyed hearing about his family -the grandkids and his love of Fly Fishing. I was privileged to have spent time working with Syl at Gateway. My thoughts and Prayers are with your family – God blessed me for having known Syl Marguis.

Marquis Family -
I worked with Syl here at Gateway, and was a part of his inside team. Syl was a great person, and touched so many people here at Gateway, as well as people he encountered everyday. It was so good to see him during our meetings, and his love of life and family was very contagious. He had a manner about him that made you feel as if you had known him a lifetime, regardless of how long you have. He will be greatly missed, and my wife and I will keep your family in our prayers.

To the Marquis Family,
I work for Gateway in the South Dakota facility. When Syl would fly out for the National Sales Meetings, it was always a joy to see him. He had a smile that was contagious and always spoke of his love of family. He would joyously share any new pictures of his grandchildren. We were all very fond of Syl and will miss him dearly. God bless all of you during this difficult time. We are all filled with great memories of this very special man.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Marquis Family. I am so sorry for your loss. Growing up next door, and being so close with Amy, allowed me to experience the wonderful love your entire family has. It is a love any family would be envious to have.
Growing up, Mr. Marquis always made feel like a part of the family whenever I was over (which was a lot!) The yearly trips to the shore with your family will always be close to my heart. I will forever remember Mr. Marquis taking Amy and me mini-golfing while vacationing down the shore. As a 9 year old, I was so frustrated that I could not make a single shot into the hole. Mr. Marquis was so patient and taught me the proper techniques of mini golf. He told me how to line up the shot and not turn my club so much. I still use his techniques to this day.
He was such a kind and warm man. Mr. Marquis always had a smile and a wave whenever he saw me. Metape Circle lost a ray of sunshine.
Mr. Marquis and your family will be in my prayers.
Much love-Megan

To the entire Marquis family,
I too met Syl many years ago at the Apple Office in North Jersey. Syl was responsible for giving me my first sales opportunity, at a time when others were hesitant about hiring a working mother with two very young children and very little sales experience. He believed in me more than I believed in myself! What I admired most about him was his integrity and strong sense of family. He always had his priorities straight. My sincere sympathy is with all of you.

Joanne, our thoughts and prayers are with you,and your family. I count Syl as a dear friend of mine. I first met Syl almost 20 years ago at the old Apple Marlton office, and those great and exciting times at Apple. We all moved on to Dell and then Gateway, but our paths continued to cross, and our bonds of friendship only continued to grow over the years. The thing that I will always remember about Syl is his total professionalism and his positive outlook no matter what the situation. At the same time, he had the balance in his life that we all strive for with the love of his family. I am saddened with his passing, and will miss him deeply. God bless you and the family, Karl and Joanne Kinscherf

I worked with Syl at Apple Computer, PowerSchool for over 2 years. Syl was the type of man you never forget. He was honorable, dignified and truly a class act. Everyone who knew him wanted to be more like him. I learned so much from Syl in the short time knowing him. He will be missed. His family was so important to him, only time can heal this pain. Syl, was just a great person to know. He was always up beat and lived his values. He was forever talking about his children and grandchildren. If you knew Syl, you knew that his family was the most important thing to him besides his heavenly father. I am so blessed to have known him. Heaven truly is a brighter place now that he is home. Look at your family and know that he still lives through you.
May you be blessed with his memory and find peace in knowing that you will see him again.
