Obituary of Sylvio J. Marquis, II

Sylvio Joseph Marquis, II, age 58 died on Tuesday, July 10 2007 at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, PA. He was born in Lower Merion, PA, grew up in Lansdale, PA and had lived most recently in Bound Brook. Mr. Marquis attended St. Stans Catholic School, Lansdale Catholic High School and received a BS degree in Biology and Secondary Education from Kings College in Wilkes Barre, PA. He was a teacher for 14 years for Valley View School in Watchung, and also worked for Apple Computer and most recently for Gateway Computer as a Field Sales Rep. for Education and Healthcare facilities. Mr. Marquis was honorably discharged from the National Guard of Pennsylvania after 6 years of service. He was a communicant of St. Josephs R.C. Church in Bound Brook and a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex. He enjoyed his annual fly-fishing trips to the Escatawba in Covington, VA with his son Darin and friends and mini fishing trips with his grandchildren. Among his many hobbies were golf, visiting historical sites, studying American history, clock collecting and repair and trains. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and sharing with them his great love of life, family and fun. Mr. Marquis is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Chabak Marquis whom he married on September 18, 1971; his son, Darin Joseph Marquis and his wife Jeanna and their children, Ethan, Zach and Colleen; his daughters, Jennifer Ann Marquis Dursee and her husband, Brian and their children, Brianne and Meghan and Amy Elizabeth Collins and her husband Larry and their children, Ryan, Aidan and Sean. He is also survived by his parents, Sylvio J.and Betty Conaway Marquis. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14th at 9:15 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:15 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount Church. Interment will be at St. Marys Stony Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
