Obituary of Shihmay Christine Ong
Shihmay Christine Ong, 61, died Friday , October 5, at her home in Warren. Born in China, settled in Amherst, Massachusetts in 1969, resided in Branchburg before moving to Warren in 1990.
Mrs. Ong received her PhD in Polymer Science and Engineering in 1974 from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She received her undergraduate from National Taiwan University Chemical Engineering.
Mrs. Ong was a Chemical Engineer for Exxon Mobil in Allendale since 1974, where she was involved in numerous patents. She retired in 2002.
She was on the Board of Director for many years with the NJ Youth Symphony and had been a past President. She was also very involved as a volunteer for the America Cancer Society.
Surviving is her loving husband Chungjian Jerry Ong; her two daughters Janice of Manhattan, NY and Katherine Ong of NYU; two brothers Thomas Chou of Dallas, TX and Frank Chou of Houston, TX; two sisters Marguerite Soh of Green Brook and Josephine Tong of Rockville, MD.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 9:30 a.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Visitation will be on Friday October 12th from 7-9 p.m.
