Obituary of Dennis L. Thorne

Dennis L. Thorne, age 61, died on Monday, February 11, 2008 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. He was born in Plainfield, raised in Linden and had lived in North Plainfield for 25 years before moving to Watchung and most recently to Murrells Inlet, SC. Prior to his retirement in 2000, Mr. Thorne was a Construction Engineer with the Port Authority of NY & NJ for over 30 years. Mr. Thorne served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965-1967. He was a past-president of the Woodbridge Corvette Club, a member of the Myrtle Beach Corvette Club and the American Legion in Murrells Inlet. Surviving are his wife, Jane D. (Joyce) Thorne; his son, Ryan Thorne and his wife Lisa; his daughter, Meagan Thorne; his mother, Lorraine Thorne and his grandchildren, Austin MacWhinnie and Brielle Thorne. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by entombment at Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery in North Brunswick. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 669 Littleton Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054.
