Obituary of John Charles Billerman

John Jack Charles Billerman, age 87, died on Monday, February 18th, 2008 at his home in Warren. Born in Newark he resided in Belleville before moving to Warren 49 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1986, he was a Distribution Manager for Cosmair in Clark for 20 years. Previously, he was employed for 20 years with Weston in Newark as the Traffic Manager. Mr. Billerman was a Tech. Sgt. with the US Marines during World War II. He participated in action at Iwo Jima and Okinawa and was a navigator with Tyrone Powers as pilot. He was a member of the Marine Corps League. An active member of Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren since 1959, he was a member and chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Father Russell Council # 11409. In 1986 he established and continuously directed the Clothing Ministry, which recently achieved the goal of 3,000,000 lbs. donated throughout the United States. He also served as a Counter and was a regular Usher at the 9 a.m. Mass. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Juanita C. (Drew) Billerman in 1997, his son, Matthew J. Billerman in 2001 and his brother, William Billerman. Surviving are his son, William and his wife Peggy of Monticello, GA; his daughters, Georgianna C. Lloyd and her husband Donald of Warren and Maggie M. Beebe and her husband Eric of Coopersburg, PA; daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Billerman of North Massapequa, NY; brother, Robert Billerman of South River; sister, Beatrice Madden of Philadelphia, PA; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Catherine, Shawn and Jacob and 3 great-grandchildren, Brittney, Matthew and Danielle. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 at Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church, Warren. Entombment will be at St. Marys Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donation made to OLM Social Ministry, c/o Our Lady of the Mount Church, 167 Mt.
