Obituary of Michael Angelo Cortese

Michael Angelo Cortese, age 82, died Sunday May 11, 2008 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown. Born in Plainfield, he had resided in South Plainfield, then Warren for twenty-seven years before moving to Califon eight years ago. Michael served in the Marines during World War II and graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Cortese was presently employed as an Electric Wholesale Executive with Linden Electric Wholesale for six years. Prior to that, he was the proprietor of Linden Electric Supply Co. in Roselle for forty-years. A past member and president of the Plainfield Lions Club, he was a past member of Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren and the Knights of Columbus Fr. Russell Council # 11409. An avid Giants Fan, he enjoyed running, deep-sea fishing, snow skiing and bowling. Surviving is his wife of fifty-six years, Josephine (LoBianco) Cortese, his children Michael R. of Princeton, Paul A. of Califon, Theresa Mangion of Basking Ridge, Joanne Cortese of Bayonne and Patricia Brenn of Branchburg and eleven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15th, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:15 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church, Warren and interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. Visitation is on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
