Obituary of Hyman S. Tobey, D.D.S.

Hyman S. Tobey, D.D.S., 87, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Wingate Nursing Home in Needham, MA. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in North Plainfield before moving to New York in 2004. He lived in Needham near his daughter for less than a year. Dr. Tobey was a dentist with offices in Plainfield and Warren for many years. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1944. He received a Masters Degree in Psychology from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1967. Dr. Tobey was a member of the NJ Dental Society for 50 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Hyman was a truly devoted husband and father and beloved grandfather. Dr. Tobey was predeceased by a son, Robert Tobey in 1987 and his wife of 65 years, Jean Botkin Tobey in 2007. Surviving are two sons, Richard and Jeffrey Tobey, his daughter, Laurie Tobey-Freedman, a nephew, Stuart Marques and 13 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Temple Sholom, corner of LaGrande and Martine Avenues, Fanwood. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung.
