Obituary of Stephen B. Williams

Green Brook: Stephen B. Williams, age 57, died on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and lived throughout the Midwest before residing in New Jersey over 30 years ago. Stephen graduated from Ohio University in Athens, OH in 1976, receiving his B.S. degree in Science. For 24 years, he was a computer science instructor for the State of New Jersey, most recently at the Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Annandale. He also worked for the Department of Transportation on their emergency road crew for many years where he earned the nickname Iron Man. Stephen was a triathlete and marathoner, who enjoyed fishing, annual family reunions on the beaches in North Carolina, gardening, playing basketball and was a long-time volunteer with the Carrier Foundation. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Gabriell Williams; his two daughters, Stephanie and Cara; his parents, Robert and Shirley; one brother, Sam and his wife LeAnn; one sister, Caroline Mange and her husband Steve; his sister-in-law, Marthika Williams; nephews Damon Gabriel, Michael and Nicholas Williams; and nieces Nora and Erin Williams. Stephen is predeceased by his brother, Larry. There will be a gathering of friends and relatives on Sunday, July 27th from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung.
