Obituary of Joseph V. Casino
Lakewood: Joseph V. Casino, age 84, died on Friday, October 3, 2008 at his home in Lakewood. He was born in Linden, NJ and had lived in Watchung for 45 years before moving to Lakewood in 1999.
Mr. Casino attended Rutgers and Union College and received his Bachelors Degree from NJ Institute of Technology and his Masters Degree from Stevens Institute.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII as a Lieutenant with the 306th Bomber Group stationed in England. As an 8th Air Force navigator, he flew missions over Germany and France and he served with the 9th Air Force after the war, mapping Europe.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, Mr. Casino was the Engineering Supervisor for Kearfott/Singer Manufacturing for 35 years.
He belonged to the Clubhouse Fairways in Lakewood.
Mr. Casino is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rose Mari Deak Casino; his sister, Amy Vuolo of Boulder City, NV; his brother, Nick Casino of Pembroke Pines, FL and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain, Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Marys Stony Hill Church. Entombment will be at St. Marys Stony Hill Mausoleum, Watchung. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in his memory.
