I adopted Dixie, a 12-year old Labrador Retriever because of Ingela. I had thought to adopt a Golden Retriever, but she was spoken for by the time we got there. Ingela asked "have you met Dixie?" She was standing at the back of a SUV with dogs and volunteers surrounding her. So we met Dixie, and now Dixie is part of our home. We are seniors just like Dixie, and she has brought fun and companionship. She will ot be left at home and loves riding in the car. She is the most wonderful dog we could have and perfect for us. Ingela, in the brief moment we had with her, told us she was not well. We are very saddened to read of her passing, She must have been a very special compassionate woman. We send our sympathies to all her family. Bless her and comfort and peace to you all.

Dearest Sister,
I never even considered this could happen when you were turned over to your Hospital on Oct 13th to be cured by the one and only blood Donner that matched your blood 100%. My blood was not good enough nor were our brothers - however that does not seem to have changed the outcome of what happened.
I believed you would have come out from hospital with new energy sharing the rest of our lives together.
I cannot in words describe my disappointment in what leukemia did to you, your dear husband, your family and your mission with Rawhide Rescue.

To The Family of Ingela Levett:
I was saddened upon hearing of the passing of my friend, Ingela Levett, a truly unique and special woman in Christ.
On behalf of the New Jersey State SPCA Humane Police, I offer our sincere condolences and our prayers for the Levett family at this hour. We pass this way but once in a lifetime and the personal contributions we make and those we serve provide memories that will last throughout eternity. Our individual lives "touch" many during our life's journey and those "life touches" help to mold and shape the lives of both ourselves and others. Ingela made countless admirable and commendable contributions to our way of living in a truly meaningful and compassionate way and in the manner in which she served both animals and people. In each and in all of our personal and professional interactions, Ingela more than exceeded and succeeded in each and every trial and tribulation placed before her, serving both animals and people and empowering both tobecome the true beneficiaries of her love, her caring, her kindness and the decisions she made in this life. In one such interaction, she changed the course of my life and I will forever remember and cherish her accomplishments and her commitment. Her words and her deeds continue to resound and echo within our earthly surroundings. Ingela had a way of making good things ever so much better and she used her skills and her heart and her soul to make things better for us all. We have already learned from her example. Now it is up to us to take what we have learned from her and pass the legacy on that others might too benefit. My Prayer, Ingela, is that you rest well from your labors, and, I eternally Thank You for your service.
May God continue to Bless the Levett family and the animals.

I remember the first day I meet Ingela at her home on a cold day. I went to work with one of her rescue. She amazed me with her love and strength and honesty about her dogs. I have always draw from her strength when I am dealing with people who have no clue about animals. She even called and made sure I was okay when I was dealing with an illness. I admire, respect, and have and will always have a very special place in my heart, work, and every day living for Ingela Levett.

We met Ingela when we adopted our beloved lab mix, Marcos - (from ALFA pets - prior to Rawhide Rescue) she so obviously loved all the animals she rescued and was so dedicated to finding the perfect home for each animal. She exuded warmth and compassion - and a joy of living. We are so shocked to read of her passing. I'm sure her wonderful legacy will continue and her good deeds will be well rewarded in heaven. God Bless Ingela.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of such a loving, caring woman. Ingela and I met when I came over to the house to meet the pit mix that I would adopt, Summer. It was wonderful to listen to her talk about the dogs and see how she interacted with them. The love and respect just shone through. When Summer saw Ingela at this past summer's Rawhide reunion she was so happy. I told Summer today that the woman who saved her life and the lives of so many others had passed. I could see the sadness in her eyes. Summer and I will miss you, but I'm sure there are hundreds of furry friends waiting for you with tails wagging and kisses a-plenty as you cross the bridge. My sincere condolences to Ingela's family and friends.

I had the immense pleasure to meet Ingela when we adpoted our two dogs, and was inmediately delighted by her charm, compassion and kindness. The first thing she told me when she saw the horse barn we were remodeling on our farm is: Graciela, that is a wonderful place for a Dog Shelter! Being a dog lover and a foreigner, as she was, I deeply identified myself with her. I just wish I had had more time to know her better and I pray for more people with the grace, empathy and love she had. Even though we miss her very much, her spirit remains in our two lovely dogs Maggie and Jesse and the many others she has rescued.

Alan and Ingela came to see me in 1986 to help them remodel thier home. I helped them with the plans and Alan proceeded to do the work. When Ingela got Millie, her Jack Russell Terrier, she used to bring her to play with our JRT's. She even brought her Mother one time. Over the years we have remained friends and supporters of her passion...Rawhide Rescue. When she first became ill,(years ago) she was so positive about the outcome, I just knew she would be fine and she was. Her positive attitude was contageous, you always felt good after being with her. Ingela will be missed, I am so saddened by her passing. She will never be forgotten, I loved her.
Alan, please know that you are in my thoughts. I am so glad we met.

I have worked with many many rescue groups in the last 20 years and it was Ingela who brought me out of retirement without even trying. I watched her at an adoption day and was so inspired by her tireless devotion and total commitment to the animals that there was no other decision to make. I wanted to be on her train. I knew I was in the presence of someone totally unique. Even though I lived far away, I knew a "great one" was worth the effort. May she live forever in our souls and through the animals she helped.
