Obituary of Ingela S. Levett
Ingela S. (Bergstrand) Levett, age 63, died on Thursday, November 13th, 2008, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Harnosand, Sweden she has resided in Green Brook since 1968.
Prior to her retirement in 2000 she worked for Bristol Myers Squibb for 30 years as an Information Management Director. Mrs. Levett loved animals and her lifelong dream came alive when she founded Rawhide Rescue in 2001. Since then the group has rescued and placed over 2,000 dogs.
Predeceased are her parents Dr. Stig Erik Bergstrand and Martha Wilhelmina (Sundquist) Bergstrand.
Surviving is her husband Alan D. Levett, whom she met when he was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm as a United States Marine. They came to the United States in 1966 and were married.
Also surviving are her brothers, Dr. Ulf Bergstrand and his wife Gunilla and their children Carin and her husband Martin Soberg and Dr.'s Johanna and Anders Wallensten; Stigbjorn Bergstrand and his wife Dr. Lott and their daughters Hannah and Emma; sister Angeta Aicardi Holmstrom and her husband Arne Tageman and their children Paul and his wife Helena and Eric and his wife Helena and their child Lisa all of Sweden.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Stony Hill R.C. Church, Watchung. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. Cremation is private.
