Obituary of Charles Arthur McAllister

Riverdale: Charles "Charlie" McAllister, age 102, died peacefully at his home in Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains.Charlie was born on October 12, 1906 in Glasgow, Scotland and came to the US at the age of 17. He spent a few years living in New York City before moving to Kearny, NJ. He then moved to Plainfield, NJ with his wife of 65 years, Lillian Williams. He lived there for 54 years before residing at Cedar Crest Village for the past 5 years.Charlie attended Pace University in New York majoring in Accounting. He spent most of his career as a Cost Accountant and retired from Mason Keller Corporation in Roseland, NJ.Charlie was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Plainfield, the Atlas Pythagoras Masonic Temple and the Old Guard both of Westfield. He was an Army veteran stationed in Honolulu during W.W.II.Charlie is predeceased by his wife, Lillian Williams and his brother, Archibald McAllister of Kearny.Charlie is survived by his daughter, Carole Guild and her husband Jim of Branchville, NJ and his son, Donald McAllister and his wife, Joanne of Coal Valley, IL; he has 4 grandchildren, Katie Edwards and her husband Mike of Grahamsville, NY; Maggie Guild and her husband Rob Roy of Morris Plains, NJ; Christine McAllister and her husband Russell Blaine of Elsah, IL and Heather McAllister of Coal Valley, IL; he also has 4 great-grandchildren, Jake Edwards, Peyton Roy, Isabella Blaine and Brian Joy. All services are private and under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung, NJ.
