Obituary of Marta L. Sadowski

Marta L. Sadowski, age 52 died on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, after a long courageous battle with cancer.Marta was born in Plainfield and had lived in North Plainfield for many years before residing in Martinsville. Marta is a former communicant of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in North Plainfield. She graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1974 and then attended Berkeley Business School in East Orange graduating in 1976. Marta worked as a Food Manager for McDonalds's and Junior's Deli in Green Brook retiring 5 years ago. She was a member of the women's cancer support group at Steeplechase Cancer Center.In her spare time she enjoyed the beach, bingo, bowling, collecting annalee dolls, and trips to Atlantic City, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her two daughters and her family.Marta is predeceased by her father, Theodore Sadowski in 1981 and her maternal grandmother, Ella Vail Hayman in 1999. Marta is survived by her mother, Antoinette (Toni) Hayman Sadowski; her two daughters, Amanda J. and Rebecca A. DeGritis; her two sisters, Karen Mallek and her husband Michael of Doylestown, PA; Janet DeFilippis and her husband Marco of Andover, NJ; and her nieces and nephews, Ted and Samantha Mallek, Marisa, Briana and Gian Marco DeFilippis.The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at 9:00 a.m. from Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, North Plainfield. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. Cremation will be private and the services will conclude at church.
